GitHub users will now have free unlimited private repositories

GitHub announced via its official blog that free individual users will now be able to use an unlimited amount of private repositories for their code. Prior to this, free users could only have unlimited public repositories, with unlimited private repos only being available for pro users.

In addition to this pricing change, Small GitHub iconGitHub is changing is combining its enterprise plans into one unified plan called, aptly, GitHub Enterprise. This will serve both cloud-based and self-hosted GitHub utilities, with the GitHub Connect hybrid option also available.

These changes to GitHub's membership plans are already live. At this point, the incentive for paying the monthly subscription for GitHub Pro is access to unlimited collaborators and advanced code review tools.
